Salvadore's Stew

Senior dogs have special nutritional needs. At KSAS, we feed seniors high quality commercial dog food. Additionally, we add at least 1/3 to 1/2 cup of ‘Salvador’s Stew’. Always ask your veterinarian for advice about the best food for your dog and gradually make any changes in diet. Here’s the recipe for the stew that we’ve named after our beloved Salvador, who not only loved it but thrived on it. Please take a moment of silence to bring the spirit of healing into your preparation and use organic ingredients whenever possible. See below for Salvador's Story.

Salvador's Story

Salvador crawled his way to the Kindred Spirits Animal Sanctuary in 2006 having escaped from being a bait dog in pit bull fights. He was traumatized and unable to walk. The first step on his healing journey was learning how to feel safe and this created hope. Massage, acupuncture and chiropractic care helped to restore some mobility to his hind legs, but it was not until he went on a mostly organic, home cooked diet that his overall health improved such that he was able to relearn to walk short distances. The return of vitality was reflected in his happiness and curiosity with everything going on at the Sanctuary.

Through this restoration, Salvador's enormous heart energy became apparent. Not only did he demonstrate the ability to heal but he became a healer himself. Learning of his transformation, people came from far away to sit with him and learn that it is possible to turn the page and live a restored and happy live.

Our beloved Salvador loved and thrived on this recipe and we thought it right to name it after him.
